Released in October 1985, the 2nd Series of Topps Garbage Pail Kids consists of 84 unique base stickers (numbered 42a-83a and 42b-83b. Created as a parody of Cabbage Patch Kids, this iconic 80s set featured macabre humor, gross-out themes, and signature peel-away stickers.

Key Features and Variations

• Card Count: A full base set features 84 stickers, though with print variations, a complete set totals 131 variations.
• Finishes: The 2nd Series cards were printed with either matte or glossy card backs. Matte backs are much rarer and generally more valuable to collectors.
• Controversial Pull: Card #49b was originally printed as "Schizo Fran" but was hastily revised to "Fran Fran" midway through production due to parent and consumer complaints.
• Card Backs: The reverse of the cards featured checklist information and parts of a larger puzzle. The first printing included a "Messy Tessie" / "Leaky Lindsay" puzzle, while second and third printings featured a "Live Mike" puzzle.
