Although the packaging is designed to resemble a vintage 1950s hockey card box, this product was actually released during the 1994-95 NHL season as a tribute to the classic Parkhurst brand.

The Story Behind the "Missing Link"

One of the most fascinating aspects of this release is that there was never an actual Parkhurst hockey card set produced for the 1956-57 NHL season.

In the early 1990s, Parkhurst (under Upper Deck licensing) created a fictional "lost" hockey card set that imagined what a 1956-57 Parkhurst release might have looked like had it existed.

Collectors have affectionately referred to this release as the "Missing Link" set ever since.

The artwork, card design, typography, and photography all pay tribute to the iconic 1950s Parkhurst hockey cards, making this one of the most nostalgic hockey products ever produced.
